In parallel with his academic achievements, Austin has carved a distinguished career path spanning entrepreneurship, brand strategy, and technology innovation.
In 2016, Austin founded “ThisLooksLikeBayelsa”, a digital media and tourism promotion brand dedicated to leveraging digital platforms and organizing local tours across Bayelsa State to enhance the tourism industry. Through innovative digital media strategies and immersive experiences, Austin’s initiatives play a pivotal role in promoting and boosting tourism in the region. Driven by a commitment to foster excellence and technological growth in communication, media production, and tourism, Austin co-founded Startup Bayelsa in 2018. This initiative aimed at driving digital literacy and startup development, culminating in the establishment of the Bayelsa Tech Hub in 2020, powered by the Bank of Industry.
Through these efforts, Austin has provided digital skills training to over 2500 individuals and nurtured the growth of indigenous technology startups.
Austin has in the past 10 years also interviewed several developmental stakeholders in the Niger Delta telling dynamic stories. Austin’s visionary leadership and dedication to harnessing the power of media productions for tourism development and communicating key issues in the Niger Delta region underscore his role as a transformative figure within Africa’s evolving media production and tourism landscape.
